Preparing the Earthworks:
If earthworks is a vital first step (unless you are lucky enough to have a durable flat slab already in place). This involves excavating the area where the court will be located, to create a level playing surface. The area will be cleared of any vegetation, rocks or debris, and any holes or bumps should be filled and leveled. We will ensure that the is then be compacted to create a stable base for the court.
Coordinating Concrete Slab Preparation:
Once the earthworks have been completed, the next step is to prepare the concrete slab. The slab should we pepare is a minimum of 100mm thick, and it is reinforced with steel mesh or bars to provide additional strength. We arrange the concrete delivery, pump and concreters at yout property. It is important to coordinate the concrete slab preparation prior to the interlocking tile installation, to ensure that the slab is level and ready for the tiles to be laid.
Installing the Basketball Hoop:
If you choose an in-ground hoop, now is the time to anchor this in before we can lay the tiles. The hoop will be installed at a suggested height of approx 10 feet and comes with a professional backboard rim which will be made of steel to withstand those heavy backyard dunks.
Laying the Interlocking Tiles:
Interlocking polypropylene tiles are our number one choice for building your basketball court, as they are durable, relativley easy to install and provide a shock-absorbent surface. We lay the tiles should on top of the concrete slab, using a interlocking pattern to ensure a secure fit. The tiles are then checked for levelness and stability with edging applied.
Adding Final Accessories:
Once the interlocking tiles and basketball hoop have been installed, it’s time to add the final accessories. This includes marking the court lines with paint or tape or adding fencing the protect your home (or your neighbours windows) from runaway balls.
